Regarding the Demonstrations of Kirkuk

Following up on our first communiqué, thousands of angry people in Kirkuk, have
demonstrated because of their miserable living conditions, caused by the
obscene costs of living and lack of electrical power and fuel as well as their
agony caused by the absence of necessary and basic services.

The demonstration started from Raheem-awa market place after the people saw the
presence of pools of heavy soiled water coming from the open sewage flooding
into the market, then the demonstration marched to the main road leading to
Irbil. The demonstration started at 11 a.m. and continued until night fall. The
demonstrators attacked two gas stations and the Administration of the Projects
of Petroleum Products building located at Ikhwaan circle and set them in
fire.
After the police and the US forces had intervened and started to shoot at the
demonstrators, the people attacked back by storming a police station with
stones and simple means. The US and police troops shootings on the
demonstrators had resulted in the killing of 2 demonstrators, one of whom is
Sabah Mohammed Ali, and wounding others by the anti-demonstration forces.

We in the Left Worker-communist Party of Iraq accede to and support the mass
demonstrations of people who are resentful towards their tragic situation and
defend their rights. We strongly condemn the repressive acts committed by the
anti-demonstration puppet government and the US troops.

Statement of the Worker-communist Party of Iraq on shooting demonstrators in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk.

The enraged masses of people in Kirkuk organized a mass demonstration on January1, 2005 against the poor living conditions, absence of basic services and sharp increase in fuel prices dictated by International Monetary Fund, (IMF.)

The USA troops assisted by the local police, which is controlled by the pro-USA ethnic parties, opened fire on demonstrators killing 4 people including, Yokhana Yaqo Yokhana and Omer Foad Othman and wounding at least 10 others.



This criminal act clearly reveals the UGLY face of the democracy that the USA

administration claims it tends to build in Iraq, as the most basic demands of people in one of the richest cities with oil in the world- Kirkuk in providing basic services and fuel in suitable prices are met with bullets and random killings. The USA and pro-USA ethnic forces frequently reveal their outright antagonism with people. It seems that impoverishing people, denying them their basic rights, jeopardizing their livelihood and destroying the Iraqi society economically and as a civil society is not enough, therefore, the USA troops prevent people from protesting and expressing their sufferings amid the current disastrous conditions.



We in the Worker-communist Party of Iraq express our resentment against

this crime and strongly condemn it and share the relatives of the victims in their pain. We call on the masses to continue their protests and demand that this crime must be investigated and those responsible punished.



The worker-communist Party of Iraq calls on all human rights organizations and all freedom loving forces worldwide to express their disgust, protest against this crime and expose the oppression and terrorism of the USA forces.



The masses of people must escalate; expand their response and protest to all parts of Iraq. We have to expose the USA terrorism all over the world. This revolting crime must not go without proper response.

Les troupes U.S. célébrent la nouvelle année en mitraillant le peuple irakien

Pour la seconde fois en deux semaines, les troupes U.S. ont attaqué la population de Kirkouk dans les quartiers de Rahim Awa et de Shorjah ce 1er Janvier. Population qui battait le pavé pour protester contre la hausse du prix du fuel, qui a été multiplié par quatre à Kirkouk. Au lieu de satisfaire les besoins de la population en leur fournissant le fuel et les autres services sociaux nécessaires, les troupes U.S. ont ouvert le feu sur les manifestants, tuant quatre personnes et en blessant onze autres.

En réponse à ce crime les manifestants ont brûlé le centre de distribution du fuel et des stations d’essence, puis les troupes U.S. ont arrété plusieurs manifestants et imposé le couvre-feu sur la ville.

Tout autour du monde, dans cette période de l’année, les gens échangent des cadeaux et des fleurs. En Irak, les troupes U.S. offrent des balles aux déshérités. C’est leur seul cadeau. Et comme ce n’est pas suffisant de détruire, voler et imposer les lois des gangs du Pentagone et du FMI en supprimant les rations gouvernementales en fuel et en aliments, elles organisent une campagne pour supprimer les pauvres eux-mêmes. Voilà la nouvelle démocratie, apportée au nouvel Irak par les troupes U.S. aprés le fiasco des élections de l’an passé.

Peuple de Kirkouk ! Peuple d’Irak !

Ces crimes sont ceux de l’occupation, qui protége les décrets du gouvernement Jafari-Talabani. Ce gouvernement se rempli les poches avec la rente de votre pétrole, tandis que les troupes U.S. vous tire sur la bouche pour faire taire votre colère. C’est le cadeau des élections pour la nouvelle année.

Le moment est venu d’y voir clair sur l’occupation et sur sa démocratie. Le moment est venu de vous unifier contre les crimes de l’occupation et ses pantins appointés.

Peuple de Kirkouk ! Peuple d’Irak !

Votre ennemi, c’est les forces d’occupation qui défendent l’élimination de vos subsides et le marché libre, pour envoyer vos enfants à la rue. Ne laissez pas les nationalistes et les sectaires de toutes sortes défaire votre union, car ces crimes ne font pas de distinction et visent tout le monde.

Rejoignez le Congrès des Libertés en Irak, c’est la voie pour avancer vers un meilleur monde pour vous et vos enfants, c’est votre front pour combattre pour la liberté et la prospérité. Allez de l’avant pour votre lutte, unifiez votre front, et continuez tant que vos revendications ne seront pas satisfaites.
